Steven Harold Miller, age 71, passed away peacefully at Fairfield Medical Center on January 8, 2026 with his beloved wife, Sherry by his side.
He was born on October 18, 1954 in San Francisco, CA and resided in Lancaster, Ohio throughout his life.
Steve graduated from Brookhaven high school in Columbus Ohio in 1972. One of the big highlights of his high school years was marching band. He was an accomplished percussionist and much valued band member.
Following high school he obtained his associates degree as a CPA at Hocking College. A short while later, he realized that his real passion was that of a police officer.
Steve graduated from the Columbus police Academy in 1987 and served his community well for 28 years, retiring in 2015. Truly, serving as an officer was the highlight of Steve’s life. He retired as a highly respected Sergeant of the CPD.
His home church was Cornerstone Church in Lancaster, Ohio. He loved the Lord with his whole heart and counted it a privilege to be a child of God.
Steve battled health issues in his latter days, but today as a family we are at peace knowing he is at rest, completely restored in Jesus Mighty Name.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sherry Lynn Miller. Two sons Bryan Steven Miller and Christopher Aaron Miller, each of Lancaster Ohio. Daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Nicole Vandenburgh and Richard Lewis Vandenburgh; and their two daughters, Steven’s cherished granddaughters, Addilyn Nicole and Leiella Ann Vandenburgh, of Lancaster, OH. Step-Mother, Monna Lee Miller. Sisters and brother-in-laws, Michele Grace and Melvin Pillay and Cheri’ Rachele and Robert Durrant, Nephew Daniel Durrant, Niece Alexa Durrant all from TX.
Steve is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Helen Vellor; and his paternal grandparents Harold and Florence Miller; his mother, Lila J. Vellor; and his father, Pearl H. Miller.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Cornerstone Church, 350 Park St. Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
