Susan K. Gurile

Susan K. Gurile, 80, died Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Main Street Terrace in Lancaster, Ohio.

Susan was a proud graduate of Liberty Union - Thurston in 1963. She furthered her education, graduating from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. Her journey of care and healing spanned an extraordinary 42 years as a nurse, during which she touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and unwavering commitment.

Beyond her career, Susan found joy and tranquility in her cherished hobbies. She was an accomplished cook whose kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort. Her delicate handiwork in cross stitch and her lovingly crafted crochet baby blankets spoke to her meticulous nature and the heartfelt care she extended to family and friends alike. Susan held a special fondness for Amish country, delighting in its simple beauty, and found happiness in road trips to Put-in-Bay.

Most of all, Susan treasured her family, finding in them the greatest source of love and fulfillment. Her legacy lives on in the countless memories she created and the lives she enriched—not only as a nurse but as a mom, grandma, and aunt.

Susan is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Charles) Romine; granddaughters Grace (Chandler Abram) Romine, Bella Conner, and Megan Carlisle; niece and nephews Joseph Gray, Thomas Gray, Nicole Martin, and Andrew Gray; along with many great nieces and nephews; many friends, family, and coworkers; and special great grand-dog Weston.

She is preceded in death by her parents George Philip and Jennie L. (White) Gurile; sister Barbara Jane (Carl) Gray; and nephew Timothy P. Gray.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 22, 2026 at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S. Main St. Baltimore, Ohio 43105, at 12:00 noon. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 - 12:00 prior to the service. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
