Susan F. Hutsler

Our beloved Susan passed away at OSU Hospital on September 5, 2026 at the age of 55, surrounded in presence and in spirit by her family. Susan was born on December 23, 1970 in Lancaster to Leon and Kristi Hutsler.

Susan was a 1989 graduate of Lancaster High School. She completed Hospital Corpsman School, Field Medical Service School and advanced training while in the United States Navy. She retired from the United States Navy where she was a hospital corpsman providing care to sailors and their family members. She served her country both within the United States, as well as in Italy, Spain, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. She was a veteran of the Peacetime and Gulf War Era and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Susan enjoyed planting flowers and decorating her home in beautiful blue colors and world-themed décor. But most of all, she loved her family, adored her nieces and nephews and was the most kind-hearted and thoughtful daughter, sibling and aunt.

Susan is survived by her loving mother, Kristi Hutsler-Wilson; step-father, Donald Wilson, siblings Holly (Andy) Rice, Mary (Todd) Burnside, and Donald (Debbie) Hutsler, and nieces and nephews, Patrick Rice, Michael Rice, Cindy Rice-Kreefer, Alisa Burnside-Hayes, Kristin Burnside, Tommy Hutsler, Breana Hopper-Hulsey, Joey Hutsler, Jacob Hutsler and Toby Hutsler, as well as great nieces and nephews, Harper and Jude, Mila and Aria, Campbell and Chloe, Kameron and Asa, and Baker.

Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Samuel and Juanita Hutsler and Fran and Dorothy Holloway, and her beloved father, Leon Hutsler.

Caring Cremation has taken place by the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. A private family burial and service will take place in Greenfield Township Cemetery.
