Thomas “Tim” Garnette, affectionately known as “The Silver Fox,” age 79, of Baltimore, Ohio, passed away on August 4, 2026, at the Pickering House with his family by his side.

  Tim was born on October 12, 1946, in Arkansas, to his late parents, Thomas and Lillian Jenkins Garnette. He was also preceded in death by his older sister, Sandy Garnette, who passed away at a young age. Tim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Penny Garnette, and his three sons Chance, Ramsey, and Nathan Garnette.

  He proudly served in the United States Navy, where he developed specialized knowledge in underwater demolition and construction. His training included the use of the formidable brass-spun diving helmet commonly known among divers as the “Widow Maker.” Tim then went on to use his military experience in his professional life as a Commercial Diver.

  Although Tim took great pride in the remarkable career he built, his greatest accomplishments were his three sons: Chance, Ramsey, and Nathan. Two world-traveling musicians, and a Registered Nurse, he was astounded by what all his boys have accomplished in their lives. Tim was immensely proud of his sons and loved being surrounded by his family, listening to the hilarious stories and experiences each of them gathered throughout life.

  It may never be fully understood whether the wonderful humor and storytelling abilities the boys received came from their humorous father or their equally witty and funny mother, Penny. But they were fortunate enough to inherit the very best from both.

  Tim was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor and a naturally happy, outgoing personality. He loved meeting people, carrying on a good conversation, and making others laugh. Generous and loyal, Tim would do anything for someone in need, especially his boys.

  Tim will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of meeting him  and even by those who knew him only through the unforgettable stories told about him., which will continue to live on.  

Caring Cremation® has taken place through the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore.
