Timothy L. Leitnaker

January 31, 1953 — September 16, 2023

Pleasantville

Timothy L. Leitnaker, age 70, of Pleasantville, Ohio, passed away at his home on September 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.   Tim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dee Ann, and their four children Phillip, Henry (Angie), JoEllen, and Leanna; and grandchildren, Rohya, Luna and James.  Tim was born January 31, 1953, and grew up on the family farm located south of Thurston, Ohio.  He was a 5th generation farmer and took great pride in continuing the legacy started by his great-great-grandfather, Henry Musser, in the mid 1800’s.

Tim’s love for farming began when he was a child helping his dearly beloved Uncle, Henry M. Leitnaker, with feeding cattle and doing chores.  He also gained a great deal of knowledge about the early days of living and working on the farm from stories told to him by his grandfather,

H. Musser Leitnaker and grandmother Besse Leitnaker.  Tim always had a special place in his heart for his Grandma Besse and often referred to her as his guardian angel.

Tim cherished the land and all it provided him in life.  He loved the open sky and the smell of freshly tilled soil.  He enjoyed the freedom he had during the long days of planting and harvesting the crops.  He found joy in the majestic beauty of his cows nursing spring calves on fresh green pastures.  He loved the stillness of the dark early mornings and found peace in

the quiet, moon lit evenings after a hard day of work.

Over the past few years, Tim enjoyed his time living in Crystal Beach, Florida, especially swimming and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed biking, yoga, sunset with friends at the park, and making memories with his family.

Tim was a 1971 graduate of Liberty Union High School and a 1975 graduate of Ashland College (now University) in Ashland, Ohio with a degree in Business Administration.   Tim is also survived by his brothers Tom (Liz) Leitnaker and Mark Leitnaker; mother-in-law, Marilyn J. Wooster; sisters-in-law, Debbie Miller, Merrie Linn Fisher, Iris Taylor; brother-in-law, Paul Wooster II; special cousins, Karen Billman, Carolyn Moehl, and Linda Lally whom Tim lovingly referred to as his sister; extended family members, Candie and Tod Ashton and Charlie Johnson of Clearwater, Florida.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents Phil and Connie Leitnaker; brother, Taylor, and infant sister, Diana;  father-in-law, Paul L. Wooster; brother-in-law Steve Miller; and brother-in-law and cousin, Martin Taylor.   Tim has donated his body to science at Ohio University.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 15 at Outerbelt Brewing, Carroll, Ohio from 1-4 o’clock.  All Tim’s family, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend.

Tim had a love of history and in lieu of flowers, had requested that donations be made in his memory to The Sherman House Museum, in care of the Fairfield Heritage Association, 105 East Wheeling Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
