Vickie L. Starner

December 20, 1963 — October 5, 2025

Baltimore

Vickie L. Starner, 61, of Baltimore, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at her home after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. She was born December 20, 1963, in Lancaster, Ohio, daughter of the late John R. and Correna L. (Wheeler) Cottrill.

Vickie was an ‘82 graduate of Bloom Carroll and a graduate of the Ohio State School of Cosmetology. She worked as a beautician for many years at varying shops until running her own business, Pleasantville Family Hair, located in the heart of Pleasantville, OH. Vickie devoted her time to her customers and family, focusing more on being a loving grandmother in recent years. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her flowers and house, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife of 42 years, a supportive mother, a doting grandmother, a phenomenal cook, an attentive ear to friends, and a kind woman that always wanted to help those around her.

From visiting her son in Tennessee, going on shopping trips with her daughter, to spending quality time with her husband, Vickie lived for those she loved. She was an avid cook who enjoyed whipping up something quick like egg salad just as much as creating unforgettable holiday dinners. Fondly known to her grandchildren as 'Mammy', she relished every moment she could with Owen and Amelia, whether it be watching Owen ride his dirt bike across the property all hours of the day or attending one of Amelia's many gymnastic pageants. A selfless woman, Vickie's kindhearted and loving demeanor will be sorely missed.

Vickie courageously faced cancer these past 6+ months and exceeded expectations in every regard, finding joy from her frequent visiting son, neighbors, friends and family who plied her with ice cream, cheesecake, and love. Her final moments were with her husband and daughter, both of which fought with her every step of the way and gave whatever comfort they could.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sibling, David L. Cottrill.

Vickie is survived by her husband, Charles, son, Artie, daughter Allie (Breckenridge), son-in-law Sam (Breckenridge), grandchildren Owen and Amelia (Breckenridge), siblings Mark Cottrill and Teena Tabor and their children.
