Lancaster - William D. “Stoney” Stonebrook, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at the Pickering House Hospice after having a very difficult time with various illnesses. His loving wife of 56 years, Rebecca Lynne, stayed by his side.
Stoney was born August 4, 1945 to the late Dale and Mary Stonebrook. He was a very patriotic Vietnam veteran. Having served in the US army from 1966-1968. Stoney was stationed in Lai Kha South Vietnam 1967-1968 where he was combat wounded. He received a Purple Heart, was awarded Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Sharp Shooter Medal. Stoney was also trained as a lineman for the Sig C. He was honorably discharged.
Stoney greatly enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was also fond of outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, shooting his guns and boating. Stoney liked CB radios, stock car racing, and watching the OSU Buckeyes.
Stoney is survived by his wife Rebecca Lynne Stonebrook; his daughter Lisa and son Chad; he is also survived by his granddaughter Brooke Lynne whom he dearly loved and missed very much; lastly he is survived by his puppies Boo and Bear.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service in St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S High St, Lockbourne, OH 43137, will be scheduled for a later date. Caring Cremation® has taken place.
