Earl Short, 88, of Rushville, Ohio went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, January 4, 2021 after a brief illness.
Earl was born in Birmingham, AL on October 2, 1932, son of the late Robert and Luddie Mae (Hutchinson) Short. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Mais) Short; three sons, James, Daniel and Darrin (Gladys) Short and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving daughter Yvonne Short.
Earl grew up in Montgomery, AL before eventually moving as a young man to southeast Michigan where he married his wife Barbara on July 26, 1958 and raised a family in Belleville, MI.
He was employed by General Motors Fisher Body for 26 years. He assembled the Impala and Caprice models at the Willow Run plant where he retired in 1991.
Earl served the Lord at Metro Baptist Church in Belleville, MI and later at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lancaster, OH. He enjoyed passing time by gardening and watching old western movies. He rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy. Earl enjoyed hearing scriptures from the Bible. It was not uncommon to awake in the mornings to the sound of Alexander Scourby on DVD reading scriptures from the Bible. He also enjoyed hearing his grandchildren sing praises for the Lord.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2032 Cedar Hill Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor Phillip Manning officiating. A live broadcast of the funeral service will be hosted on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at noon on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page. Interment will be at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MI.
