Emma Lucille (Gadd) Ortman

Emma Lucille Ortman, age 84 of Rushville, passed away on Sept. 25, 2021 at the Pickering House.  She was born on July 23, 1937 in Byesville to the late Eural and Mary Blanche Steele Gadd. Emma graduated from Muskingum College and became a school teacher in the Western Muskingum School District and Perry Co. Schools.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, quilting and puzzles.  Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.  Emma will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ed Ortman; son, Mark (Krystal) Ortman; daughter, Julie (Ralph) Bay; grandchildren, Josh (Dani) Bay, Joseph (Kaitlyn) Ortman, Chris Ortman, and Rachel Ortman; brother, Earl (Caroline) Gadd; and nieces, Loretta (Bob) Miller and Martha Gadd.

A funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:30AM at the Johnson Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM.  Donations can be made to the Pickering House 282 Sells Rd.
