Marilyn Louise (Miller) Shook

August 16, 1931 — May 13, 2022

Lancaster

Marilyn Louise Shook, 90 of Lancaster, Ohio is now at rest in her heavenly home. She has passed from this life on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Arbors of Carroll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.

As a young mother, Marilyn worked briefly for the GayFad Company hand painting glassware.  Years later she worked for Haraway’s Children Clothing Store and Elder-Berman Dept. Store.  She was a member of the Olivedale Red Glad Hatters. Until her health began to fail, she attended Faith Memorial Church.

After raising three children and leaving her homemaking days behind, Marilyn and the love of her life retired to Florida. Where, they enjoyed many years exploring central Florida and spending many long lazy days on Daytona Beach.  She and Dad enjoyed camping and many campfire meals that were shared with family and friends. Mom loved to travel and enjoyed vacations from coast to coast and everywhere in between.  She especially enjoyed Caribbean cruising.

Our Mom is survived by her son, Michael (Vicki) Shook of Lancaster, daughters, Victoria (Mike) Noice of Southport, North Carolina and Kimberly Shook of Lancaster; grandchildren, Jodi (Charles) Flanigan of Lancaster, Chad (Mary) Shook of Lancaster, Wesley (Angela) Noice of Carthage, North Carolina, Kelly (Daniel) Henrikson of Leland, North Carolina, Jeremy (Samantha) Rankin of Kenmore, Washington, Lauriel (Shane) Hayes of Hilliard, Ohio; eight great grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter, Penelope Churchill, brother, Kenneth Miller of Alta Loma, California and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by Elvin, her beloved husband of 75 years, by her parents, Dorothy M. DeLong and Henry L. Miller, Elvin’s parents, Lyman and Mildred Shook, infant brother, Lewis Miller, sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and James Friesner and sister-in-law, Patricia Miller.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Arbors at Carroll and the care and compassion of Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care aides and nursing staff.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to honor Marilyn’s life may be made to Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Jonathon Morgan officiating. A live broadcast of the funeral service will be hosted on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio.  Family and friends may visit Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
