Marvin Walter Capehart

October 20, 1956 — September 8, 2021

Pickerington

Marvin Walter Capehart, age 64, formerly of East Street in Pickerington, died September 8, 2021 at Windsor Place in Lancaster. Marvin was the only child of the late Billy Dixon Capehart and Ilona Helene (nee Ehrm Iler) Capehart. Marvin was one of those people that once you met him, you would never be able to forget him. His accomplishments, interests and hobbies were vast and varied.

Marvin loved music and was classically trained in his mother’s home country of Austria. He composed multiple operas in his lifetime. He was proud of his family’s heritage and spoke fluent German. Marvin also took a lot of pride in his train collection and had amassed trains from all over the world. He was a lover of NASA and enjoyed the recent launchings of SpaceX.

Marvin was the creator of the Gay Cowboy Pride flag and worked hard to obtain a patent for his design. He could share in great detail what every element of the flag represented.

Marvin was a graduate of DeVry University and worked as a computer engineer in California for several years before returning home to Pickerington. He loved his family home, recalled fond memories of his mother’s beautiful garden and spent countless hours re-creating her recipes. Marvin also enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Pickerington Public Library, City Hall and Giant Eagle.

Marvin is survived by his aunt, Augustine Knittl and cousins Karin, Dennis and Rebecca Knittl, all of Austria. He will be laid to rest with his beloved father and mother.

Prost und aufwiedersehen, Lieber Freund.
