Richard L. Patterson

Richard L. Patterson, age 84 of Pataskala, died April 6th, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 8th, 1934 in Crooksville to the late Russell H. and Anna Bailey Patterson.  Richard retired as an instructor and coordinator of pipefitting and was a member of the UA Local 189 Pipefitters.  He truly believed in pipefitting apprenticeships and even helped to write in books on the subject.  He and his loving wife of 66 years, Eleanor J. Patterson loved to travel.  Together they saw all 50 states, and visited 6 out of the 7 continents.  They enjoyed life together and traveled with their children to show them the country as they grew up.  He enjoyed his life, loved his family, and he will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor J. Patterson; children, David K. (Annette) Patterson, Sandra L. (John C. Jr.) Ryan, Richard D, (Georganne) Patterson; grandchildren, David R. (Melissa) Patterson, Kimberly Patterson, Erin R. (Tyler) Grill, Dr. Meghan M. (Dr. Brian) Dishong, John C. Ryan III; great-grandchildren, David J. Patterson, Justin M. Russell, Harper J. Grill, Colby D. Grill, Henley R. Dishong, and Evelyn L. Dishong.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Barbara A. Ream.

The Johnson-Smith funeral home is handling arrangements and a private graveside service will take place at a later date where he will be inturred at the Lithopolis Mausoleum.
